Mashable is hiring an Assistant Programming Editor to create dynamic content for our industry-leading Snapchat Discover Stories and Mashable Reels, a new storytelling format that harnesses vertical video to serve a mobile-first audience.
This job involves a compelling mix of responsibilities. You'll have to be a concise, voice-driven writer who can turn around copy on a tight deadline. But you also need to be organized: Both Discover and Reels involve complex workflows across a number of teams. You'll also assist the Director of Editorial Programming in managing Mashable's content across platforms.
The role requires a lot of creativity and writing: The Assistant Programming Editor is the connective tissue between our editorial and Studios teams and, in addition to working with writers and editors, will communicate with animators and illustrators to make ideas come to life.
The ideal candidate is naturally curious and a self-starter; s/he should also be well-versed in digital and tech culture, with a keen understanding of social media across multiple platforms.
The Assistant Programming Editor reports directly to Mashable's Director of Editorial Programming and will work closely with the Executive Editor.
