Sales: VP, Branded Content

The Details

Mashable is seeking a visionary leader for our Branded Content team. This person will lead a team responsible for the creative strategy, development, presentation and execution of all branded content projects for client and agency partners. This role will also be responsible for designing and delivering compelling branded content solutions across Mashable’s current and future platforms including Mashable owned and operated, Social (Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, etc.), over-the-top (Roku, Apple), etc. She or he will work closely with the Sales organization to review briefs and RFPs, develop project plans and timelines, and deliver innovative solutions that drive revenue. This person will work closely with Product and Integrated Marketing teams to develop and productize new Branded Content opportunities. Finally, they will be responsible for maintaining adherence to Mashable’s editorial tone and voice while meeting brand objectives.

The Day to Day

  • Manage the Branded Content team including a full time and freelance staff of content producers, writers, and artists, that deliver content that is both true to the Mashable voice and audiences and aligns with brand objectives
  • Prioritize RFPs, Branded Content Projects, and other workload across the team
  • Build and maintain strong collaborative relationship within the Sales organization, including working closely with Sales and Sales Leadership (Sales Managers and CRO), as well as Integrated Marketing to develop revenue generating custom Branded Content ideas/programs
  • Partner with Account Management Ad Operations and Yield teams to execute on branded content programs and shape operational best practice
  • Liaise across internal departments (Content, Audience, Product, etc.) to develop & productize proactive Branded Content Opportunities
  • Leverage Mashable’s proprietary technology and data analysis tool, Velocity to develop fresh, innovative formats and creative content opportunities to arm the sales team with the most current and competitive content offerings for both RFP responses and proactive pitches
  • Grow Mashable’s reputation as a creative, innovative and effective partner for branded content through compelling storytelling across creative formats
  • Responsible for branded content for quality control
  • Understand ROI of efforts; report on content results and performance in a manner that is relevant, meaningful, actionable and understandable (using Omniture, Peek, Google Analytics, etc)
  • Work with finance team to manage budgets and production costs
  • Stay on top of industry trends, including branded campaigns through other publishers

Must Haves

  • Based in NYC
  • 7- 10 years of experience in one of more of the following industries with a track record of developing branded content solutions for major brands across a variety of consumer categories
    • Advertising
    • Media/Publishing
    • Content Creation
    • Strategy/Planning/Account Leadership
  • Outside-the-box, big-picture, and solutions-oriented thinking
  • Ability to multi-task and problem-solve work in a fast-paced environment
  • Belief in data-driven creative
  • Strong sense of judgment when it comes to editorial, photo and video
  • Experience working with Sales
  • Knowledge of digital video and development of video programs
  • Hyper-awareness of current business, tech and social media trends & business models
  • Deep understanding of the media landscape and strong familiarity with Social platforms
  • Extremely organized, proactive, and detail-oriented client service mentality
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
